Rasayana™ is a highly customizable family of drug
delivery vehicles that can easily be customized to
carry a wide range of therapeutics, MRI contrast
agents and targeting agents in the form of Target
Specific Delivery Vehicles (TSDV™). TSDV™ uses
the customizable nanoparticles with core shell
particles called NanoBindi™ that uses BOSH™ polymers
as a shell. BOSH™ polymers are unique in that
they can be functionalized for solubility,
stability, temperature sensitivity, release on
demand, providing unparalleled “functionality” for
formulation and delivery of therapeutics.
TSDV™ polymers are not merely passive drug carriers
that degrade over time. Through modifications of the
four bioreactive groups present on the polymer shell
surface, the NanoBindi’s™ are made to respond to
biological mechanisms and micro-environmental
conditions to trigger the release of appropriate
amounts of drug payload at the appropriate time and
in the desired location. Chikujee has also
modified the Rasayana™ delivery system to include
targeting ligands and confirmed receptor-mediated
uptake into specific target cells (both to tumor
cells and to cardiovascular plaques) in in vivo
animal studies.
Rasayana™ has the potential to dramatically enhance
the therapeutic index of many classes of drugs –
from small molecule drugs to large, macromolecular
therapeutics such as proteins, and peptides – by
significantly improving efficacy, reducing side
effects and reducing frequency and time of
administration for patients. Through our
understanding of the individual properties of our
proprietary TSDV™ and the limitations of drug
candidates, we can customize Rasayana™-drug
combinations with features that cannot currently be
provided by other nanoparticle based small molecule
delivery platforms, whether solid gold based, lipid-
or polymer-based.
